Mia doesn’t want children. She has been with her husband Wout for several years when, one day, he comes home with a team offering VR simulation therapy, promoted by the state. Through scans of Mia and Wout’s faces, they create a VR simulation, a SIM, of what a baby conceived by the two of them might look like. The therapy involves having Mia interact with her VR baby every day on the assumption that it will trigger maternal feelings in her. Failure to cooperate could have dire consequences.
